A Multi Disciplinary Approach To Vaastu Energy

VASTU SHASTRA

Vastu as Science

The science of Vastu is based on the fact that there are mainly two forces that are equal but opposite. As per cosmic ordain, these two forces interact with each other, which results in the production of a third force named “Bioforce” that is essential for existence of life. One force is fine and subtle, whereas the other is dense and dark. For easier understanding, these two forces are referred to as Positive and Negative forces respectively.

Continuous Interaction of Forces:

Vastu is considered to be the continuous interaction of these natural forces. Construction of structures on the earth’s surface can hamper this interaction. Both the positive as well as negative forces make their way into the structures within which they continue this interaction. Hence, this can result in one of the forces dominating its presence within the structure. The science of Vastu has been designed to ensure that the positive forces have stronger presence within the structure, thereby reducing the impact that the negative forces may cause on the inhabitants.

Benefits of Positive Forces:

If positive forces can dominate the negative ones within a structure, beneficial bio-energy is released for the inmates that help to keep them healthy. As per natural law, negative forces cannot be totally eliminated from any structure. But its effects can be minimized by the effective use of the scientific principles embedded in Vastu Shastra. It is to be noted that if the Negative forces become dominant within any structure, it results in a weaker field of bio energy that could result in the occupants suffering from various diseases.

Role played by the Science in Vastu:

Vastu incorporates a set of rules, which if followed, provides positive atmosphere within any structure. The combined effect of nature and structures play a significant role in shaping the living and working conditions of the people. Vastu, as a science, gives access to conceptual tools for creating a harmony between all the above three factors. This is because the science has been designed essentially for creating a harmonious relationship with natural environment.

Vastu is a rational science:

A key aspect of Vaastu is to study the impact that the rays of the Sun have on our planet. The science is rational because it makes a thorough analysis of characteristics within a house and scientifically explains the effects of the same to its residents.

Vastu is a permanent science:

Vastu principles are direction based, which are in itself permanent in nature. Hence, Vastu effects are also deemed to be permanent.

Vastu is a beneficial science:

The core aim with which this science evolved thousands of years back was to provide happiness to people and reduce their problems. The science has still retained the same goal.

Vastu is a universal science:

The universality of Vastu can be derived from the fact that the science gets it's basis from the properties of the Sun and the Earth, which are universal in nature. The science is not influenced by factors like religion, caste and nationality and gives equal importance to all.

Vastu is a practical science:

The guidelines of this science are very simple to understand and follow. If residences are built based on it's guidelines, Vastu ensures happy and healthy life for the inhabitants.

Vastu incorporates within itself all these above mentioned features. It is also based on cause, effect and action. These factors help to easily draw the conclusion that Vastu Shastra is a complete science

“This science is complete in itself. Happiness to the whole world it can bring,
All the four benefits it bestows on you,
Rightful living, money, fulfillment of desires and bliss,
Are all available in this world itself”
-Viswakarma

Vastu is a logical explanation of scientific truths and facts. The Vastu Principles are related with the properties (Natural Energies) of our Mother Earth. . It simply says that the sources of energies are to be open and the flow of energies is not to be disturbed. Vastu Shastra prescribes desirable characteristics for sites and buildings based on flow of energy (‘Prana’ in Sanskrit). Many of the rules are attributed to cosmological considerations; the Sun's path, the rotation of the Earth, magnetic field, etc. The morning Sun is considered especially beneficial and purifying and hence the East is a treasured direction.

Vastu believes that there are essentially two types of forces, which are equal and opposite in nature. The interaction of these two forces is cosmic ordained and produces a third type of force, which is called ‘Bio-Force’ or ‘Prana’, needed for life to exist. One type of force is subtle and fine. The other is dark and dense. We, for understanding this subject, can call the first one as 'positive' and the other as 'negative'. 'Prana' is liberated by the interaction of these forces. Over the surface of the globe, these forces continuously interact, releasing bio-energy. When a structure is built over the surface of the Earth, it comes in the way of a natural interaction. Both the forces enter the structure where the interaction continues. However, the intensity of forces that enter the structure need not be the same. Depending on various factors like levels, water bodies, door placement etc., either the positive or the negative can have stronger presence.

If the structure is designed in a manner that the positive forces override the negative forces then there is a beneficial release of bio-energy, which helps all the inmates to be healthy. Even after such reaction with the negative forces, a positive Cosmic surplus is always present in such a structure, which is the ‘Supreme Being Himself’. In such an atmosphere, life is smooth and happy with everything in life coming your way without any great struggle. It is a happy and healthy life for all the inhabitants.

If on the other hand the structure is built in such a way that the negative forces override the positive then you have a weak bio-energy field which manifests as diseases in the occupants. The over bearing negative field makes your actions, efforts, thinking negative so that ultimately the whole life is ruined.

The science of Vastu guides you about the rules you have to follow so that the structure has a positive atmosphere.

By strictly following these Vastu Rules, Human Race can gain quite many benefits and live peacefully. In other words, Vastu rules instruct the ways to create buildings and ‘Living in Harmony with the Earth’.

VAASTU IS A SCIENCE & AN ART OF LIVING IN HARMONY WITH THE NATURE. IT IS BASED ON RESEARCHES, INSTRUMENTS, DATABASE & CASE STUDIES.

Vastu is the scientific study of directions, which aims at utilizing the natural energies that are available free of cost, for the benefit of humans, by creating an equilibrium between man and material. As a science, it extracts the positive energy from the natural elements of the universe - the panchbhootas, namely, earth, water, air, sun and sky. It all these five elements, for creating a congenial setting or a place to live or work in, in most the scientific way, exploiting the benefits bestowed by the five basic elements.

Vaastu is a science of balancing building with the laws of nature. A Vaastu friendly or nature friendly building is perfectly balanced with nature, subtle energies around and five elements. Vaastu is known as Sthapatya Veda or the Science of architecture. In the ancient period, Vaastu and architecture were one. Vaastu is in fact an architectural science which focuses on designing building considering the latitude, longitude and altitude of the place, climatology, land, location, subtle energies around and psychology of occupants. In other words Vaastu can also be described as - collection of experiences and expertise of thousand of years of our ancestors on the relationship between building, nature and their effects.

Vaastu - needs a thorough scientific study with help of instruments like lecher antenna, camphol, PIP scan, lux meter and sound level meter etc. A scientific study of a building can only be done if it is studied in totality. The three factors which need to be taken into consideration are:

Building - Building refers to the premises and each and every aspect of the premises. It includes the structure, openings, location, size, shape, internal layout and environment etc. A complete internal and external study of the dwellings is important.

Human beings - Human beings refer to the occupants of the building. It refers to a complete psychological and anatomical study of the occupants. The attitude, behavior and personality of the occupants play an important role in customized solutions.

Environment - Environment refers to both internal and external environment. The external environment includes the surrounding, aggressions, Climatology, cosmic and geo energies etc. The internal environment comprises of indoor air, electromagnetic field, multiple chemical sensitivity, colour scheme, materials and furniture etc. The relationship between internal and external environment should also be clearly understood to strike a perfect balance.

There are lots of benefits easily possible through Scientific Vaastu. Sound sleep, efficiency, comfort level, relaxation, concentration, mental stability, strong immune system, better energy levels, fresh & active feel and improved relationships are some of them.

The equilibrium in nature can be easily seen among all the moving bodies by the human beings, but unfortunately they are unable to see such equilibrium in a static body. Vastu shastra aims at guiding construction in such a way that establishes the equilibrium, so that there is no hindrance to the flow of magnetic waves, from the North Pole to South Pole. It is believed that creating such a balance helps people avoid various calamities, diseases, accidents, etc, which might have occurred otherwise.

Vastu is an old practice that was evolved by learned men of the past, for the welfare of mankind. It is a vast field of study that lays down certain principles, paving way for good health, wealth and prosperity to enter our house. The principles of Vastu, which were laid down in the ancient times, are purely based on the effect of sunrays during different times of the day. They continue to be used by people till date, while undertaking any form of construction, to keep everything in equilibrium.

Five Elements
The five elements of nature, on which the science of Vastu is based, are:

  • Sun: Sun is one of the most important elements of nature, on which our very survival is dependent. It is a source of heat and light and therefore, holds a lot of significance in the Vastu study.
  • Air: Air, being the source of oxygen, acts as the life savor for human beings. Their comfort level is dependant upon different things like airflow, air temperature, its pressure, humidity level, etc. Therefore, air is one of the most powerful sources of our survival.
  • Earth: In India, earth is given the status of mother. It is the source of existence of landform, landscape, flora and fauna. The gravitational force and magnetic effects of Earth have an effect on living beings.
  • Water: Water is essential for the existence of all life forms. In the past, human civilizations flourished around rivers and major waterways. Water has been used by the humans in various ways, like agriculture, drinking, as a dissolving agent, and so on.
  • Sky: The sky consists of not just our solar system, but also the various galaxies that form a part of it. It provides a shelter to all species and forms the five basic element of nature.
Natural Energies
Vastu shastra is based on various natural energies, which are available in atmosphere, mainly:
  • Solar Energy
  • Earth Energy (Gravity)
  • Magnetic Energy

Reasons to Follow Vastu

Recent years have witnessed a sudden increase in awareness and interest for Vastu Shastra, which leads to the question as to why this increased attention is being given to this science all of a sudden. Is it just because it has become the latest fashion trend? Or is it because people feel that it is something that needs to be followed? An attempt has been made to explore the reason why Vastu has suddenly become so popular these days.

Universality of the Science:

Vastu makes use of certain key elements that are present universally and are not restricted to any geographical boundaries. It basically talks of extracting positive energies from five key natural elements. This includes solar energy from the sun, lunar energy from the moon, magnetic effects from within the earth, heat energy from fire and finally wind energy. The science creates a balance of these energies to achieve its mission of providing human beings with a harmonious life.

The principles are mainly based on electromagnetism theories. What adds to the awe factor is the fact that these principles had been formulated centuries before electromagnetism had been actually discovered! The two Poles of the Earth are the main reservoirs of energy for supplying the whole planet. This energy continuously flows from the North to the South Poles in magnetic wave form.

Simplicity of the Principles:

Another reason for the increasing popularity of Vastu Shastra is that it can be followed in an easy and simple manner. Vastu, being essentially the science of construction, has comprehensively addressed all aspects related to the same. Right from helping the buyer decide on the purchase of a particular plot, Vastu goes all the way to address all steps pertaining to the construction. Energies that are present within Vastu can be balanced out using very simple modifications.

Multiple Dimensions of the Science:

The main reason why Vastu Shastra has become so popular is because it has a multi-dimensional approach. It addresses a lot of relationship factors.

  • It defines and deals relationship of humans vis-a-vis the forces of nature.
  • It creates an excellent connection between inner and outer worlds.
  • It is aimed at clearing obstacles and hindrances from the path of human beings.
  • It has been seen that making small changes in the structure of a building has the capacity to bring in huge amount of positive changes in the lives of people living it it.

Vastu creates a perfect balance of energy sources:

Vastu is mainly concerned with two main sources of energy. These are the geomagnetic and solar energies. The science involved in Vastu Shastra is aimed at having a control of these energy flows by making use of proper alignments and directions. Hence, the places, where the windows, doors and walls are located, have a significant role to play in bringing a lot of positive energy into the lives of the human beings. Apart from these, other factors that have a strong bearing in creating positive energy include the color combinations used in rooms, the zoning and flooring, presence of plants and trees at the exterior of the house etc.

Vastu creates Harmonious Living:

Vastu Shastra is an art that teaches human beings to live in peace and harmony with nature. It has been said that if the guidelines of Vastu Shastra is followed properly, it has the power to shape the fortunes of human beings in a very positive manner. This is one of the prime reasons why the science has become so popular amongst a section of the population.

All these above factors justify the fact why Vastu Shastra, as a science, is suddenly gaining huge popularity all across the globe. The ease of understanding and applying this science has certainly gone a long way in achieving this popularity. Another factor for this increased popularity may be attributed to the connection of this ancient science to modern day scientific principles, including electromagnetism.
